Hazardous waste abatement

Hazardous waste includes asbestos, Glass wool, PCB etc. In modern ship it is prohibited to use hazardous materials in ship but in old ship they exist. So abatement is must to reduce occupational and environmental risks. According to the rules [BSBRR-2011, 17.3(c), 17.9, 17.10] hazardous waste abatement include some tasks such as identification and marking of all places containing hazardous wastes/materials, construction of facility for removal and handling of asbestos on the yard, construction of temporary storage facility for storing hazardous wastes/materials. ASRB's responsibility is to ensure these facilities on every yard.
